Late Christmas continues! This unauthorized Amharic (spoken mostly in Ethiopia) arrived today. It makes a beautiful companion to the two Tigrinya translations I received last week as both languages are written in the (horrific to interpret!) Ge’ez writing system. Many thanks to @mcallister_alaskagrown for tracking it down for me!

This is an exciting day for me! Getting my actual hands on these two unauthorized Tigrinya translation of Philosopher’s Stone has been a long process and a bit of an emotional rollercoaster! They’ve been sitting at the Asmara airport in Eritrea since the beginning of November waiting for DHL to consider it safe enough to fly in—you see, the airport has been bombed multiple times since the books were turned over the DHL! I have seldom become so emotionally involved in a translation—due in a large part to the friend I made along the way. I am relieved that he and these gems are unscathed!
